Your interior design journey in 5 steps
Designing an interior isn’t just about picking out a trendy sofa or debating fifty shades of white. At its core, interior design is about shaping the way a space is lived in… How people move through it, how light flows, how storage is cleverly integrated, and how every square meter works hard without feeling cramped.
A good designer combines two superpowers: the logic of space planning and the emotion of storytelling. The result? Homes that don’t just look beautiful on Instagram, but feel effortless, functional, and deeply personal in everyday life.
Every project is a journey, and while the path is always tailored to each client, the process usually follows a clear rhythm. Here’s what it looks like, from the very first chat to the moment the champagne cork pops to celebrate your new place.
Step 1: Discovery & space analysis
It all starts with a conversation. What’s your lifestyle like? What drives you crazy in your current home? What’s non-negotiable, and what are you ready to change?
Alongside this chat, the space itself gets a full “check-up”: measurements, natural light, circulation, and all the quirky details that make a place unique (yes, even that one plug that’s always in the wrong spot).
Think of it as gathering the DNA of your project before any design decisions are made.
Step 2: Space planning & layout design
Here’s where the magic of design begins. Several layout options are explored (different ways to place walls, open up circulation, or reconfigure furniture) to see how the space can best support your life.
This isn’t just about where the sofa goes. It’s about improving flow, maximizing light, and making sure every corner has a purpose.
Once the winning plan is chosen, detailed drawings and technical documents are prepared to guide the project forward. No worries, you won’t have to decode complex blueprints, that’s the designer’s job.
Step 3: Moodboards, materials & 3D perspectives
Once the bones are in place, we bring in the soul. Through moodboards, palettes, and material selections, we define the look and feel of your project. From flooring to textiles to wall finishes, every choice reflects your personality and lifestyle, not just fleeting trends.
But we don’t stop at flat images. To help you truly see the design, it’s time to create 3D perspectives and visualizations. These allow you to walk through your future space before a single wall is painted or a single tile laid. It’s a powerful way to review and adjust the details, confirm choices, and make sure you feel fully confident and excited about the direction.
This is where your story takes shape visually, and the vision becomes something you can almost step into.
Step 4: Furniture & styling that lasts
Once the layout and materials are set, the furniture and styling stage makes the design truly yours.
A strong focus is placed on sustainability: second-hand treasures, vintage pieces, or giving new life to furniture you already own. A reupholstered armchair, a carefully chosen antique table, or even an upcycled cabinet can inject both character and conscience into a home.
Of course, when new pieces are needed, the emphasis is on timeless, high-quality designs, items you’ll still love long after passing trends have faded.
Step 5: Execution, delivery & celebration
This is the big reveal phase: the transformation from plan to reality. While the designer doesn’t swing the hammer, they do stay closely involved: answering contractors’ design questions, checking that details align with the approved vision, and keeping clients updated with regular check-ins.
And then… that incredible before/after moment. The walls are painted, the furniture is placed, the atmosphere is alive. That’s when the celebration kicks in (champagne for you, G&T for the designer!).
Behind every beautiful interior lies a clear process. By blending spatial logic with creativity, technical expertise with personal storytelling, I help you transform not just your home, but the way you live in it. Ready to see what your home could become? Let’s start the journey.
